Open Source Development: not with contract!

SlashDot (/.) has this article on Perl's development done with a contract ( which does apply in general to any other GPL work done under contract). Basically, your employer own's all GPL'd work you do when done under a signed contract. Even though by law, they don't really own everything you do, only the work you have done during a contract that you have signed. Very sad thing isn't it?
